What is Hashing?
Hashing is social running for all ages and abilities with a twist — part running, part trail hunter, and part party! A designated “hare” lays a trail with markers, and the “hounds” follow, encountering false leads, shortcuts, and surprises along the way.
It is non-competitive, fun-focused, and always ends with drinks and camaraderie. Often called “a drinking club with a running problem” — perfect for anyone who enjoys fitness, adventure, and a good laugh!
History of C2H3
The Cheltenham and Cotswold Hash House Harriers was established in 1981 and has been running (and drinking) ever since. We are one of the many Hash House Harrier chapters worldwide, all tracing their roots back to Kuala Lumpur in 1938.
For over 40 years, our pack has explored the beautiful trails, fields, and lanes of Cheltenham and the Cotswolds — always finishing at a welcoming pub. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
What to Expect on Your First Run
Turn Up
Check our upcoming runs page for the next run details — date, time, and meeting point (usually a pub). Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet.
What to Wear
Trainers or trail shoes, comfortable clothing for the weather. No special gear needed. Leave the lycra at home if you prefer.
Follow the Trail
The hare will have laid a trail marked with flour or chalk. Follow the marks, call “On On!” when you spot the trail, and help the pack stay together.
Go at Your Own Pace
There are walkers, joggers, and runners — nobody gets left behind. Checks and false trails naturally regroup the pack.
The Apres
Afterwards, we gather at the pub for refreshments, socialising, and the occasional “down down” (a hashing tradition you will learn about!).
Cost
Your first run is free. After that, a small fee contributes to the running of the club. Annual subs are affordable.
Come along and give it a try
No commitment, no pressure. Just a fun evening out in the fresh air with friendly people. On On!
